Creative Bath bus tours prove just the ticket to get talent on board with businesses

Students at Bath Spa University will be able to gain valuable insight into the real-life workings of a range of creative businesses next month by taking part in the inaugural Creative Bath Business Tours.

The event on November 16 aims to link students with businesses to enhance their employment prospects and give them a first-hand overview of company culture, ethos, office decorum and working life.

Due to demand for space, Creative Bath – the city’s creative industry community – will be running two bus tours covering different aspects of the creative industries. One is aimed at publishing, media and computing students and the other is designed to benefit those looking to get into graphics and design careers.

Creative Bath community manager Lucy Plummer said: “This is a fantastic opportunity – many final-year students have never worked in an office before and therefore don’t understand office environment and etiquette.

“For businesses, it’s a chance to connect to bright new talent as well as contribute to the development of the sector.

“The idea has received overwhelming support from the local business community. We’re already discussing repeating this event next year.”

Bath’s creative economy is vital to the city, contributing more than tourism and retail combined.

Businesses opening their doors to students include The Guild, Rocketmakers, MediaClash, Network-N, Mytton Williams, Ready, Anthem Publishing and Wild & Wolf.
