Dizzee Rascal and Coco Join Sigma for Underground Drum & Bass Anthem “R U Sleeping”
British drum & bass duo Sigma have teamed up with grime heavyweight Dizzee Rascal and Sheffield MC Coco for their explosive new single “R U Sleeping”, released April 18th via their independent label Day Ones.
The track marks Sigma’s fourth release of the year and a continued return to their underground roots—one that blends raw energy with heavyweight collaborations. With dark, stripped-back production and a relentless pace, “R U Sleeping” echoes the sound of early UK raves, while infusing it with the signature lyrical fire of Dizzee and Coco.
“We’re gassed to be working with one of our teenage idols on our new single – one that’s on our own independent imprint. This is a real pinch-yourself moment for both of us,” said the duo, made up of Joe Lenzie and Cameron Edwards.
The collaboration came together almost by chance, following years of intent from Sigma to work with Dizzee Rascal.
“I used to see him at the raves in East London,” Joe recalled. “We’d tried to connect before, but things finally lined up when Cam bumped into him at a festival last summer. We exchanged numbers, and he was in the studio a week later.”
Initially, the track featured only Coco’s hook. Dizzee, famously selective about his studio appearances, was persuaded to jump on the track after hearing the bare-bones demo—turning what could’ve been a one-off experiment into a high-energy studio session that captured lightning in a bottle.
“R U Sleeping” continues Sigma’s creative reset following their departure from major label life. Their 2024 relaunch under the Day Ones banner was more than just symbolic. It marked a return to form, prioritising creative freedom over commercial pressure.
So far, the results speak for themselves: “Chargie” with Scrufizzer and Jamakabi, “Chemicals” with Mali-Koa, and their rework of “Superstylin’” with Danny Byrd and Basslayerz have all shown a revitalised Sigma—one fuelled by passion, not playlists.
“This journey started in the underground, and we’re back there now—but with more experience, more control, and way more fun,” the duo added.
With “R U Sleeping”, Sigma fuse nostalgia with modern grime and drum & bass energy, delivering what could be one of 2025’s standout collabs. And if this release is anything to go by, there’s plenty more heat to come from the Day Ones camp.
